My Antioch Shrine Journey---Fellowship Through Service

In February 2023, I became a Noble of Antioch Shrine after being sponsored by the Middletown Shrine Club. Like many steps in my Masonic journey, joining the Shrine introduced me to a new circle of brethren and another opportunity to learn about the many ways Freemasonry serves others.

To many people, the Shrine is recognized by the familiar red fez or the miniature cars seen in parades. Behind those public traditions, however, is a much deeper mission: supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children and demonstrating the Masonic principles of charity, compassion, and service in tangible ways.

My time with Antioch Shrine allowed me to experience that spirit of fellowship firsthand. Through Shrine events, club activities, and the friendships I formed, I gained a greater appreciation for the philanthropic work that has made the Shrine one of the most recognizable branches of Freemasonry.

Although I eventually chose not to continue my membership, the experience remained an important part of my Masonic journey. It broadened my understanding of the many paths available within the fraternity and reinforced my appreciation for those brethren who devote so much of their time to the Shrine's charitable mission.

Every step in Masonry teaches something different. My time with Antioch reminded me that discovering where we are called to serve is just as important as discovering where we are not.
