One of the greatest discoveries in my Masonic journey has been realizing that Freemasonry is not only experienced through ritual—it is also explored through scholarship.

The Ohio Lodge of Research brings together brethren from across the state who share a passion for studying Masonic history, philosophy, symbolism, and leadership. Unlike a traditional lodge, it travels throughout Ohio, providing members opportunities to present original research, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.

​

My own journey began in May 2022 when I attended my first meeting in Athens, Ohio. What started as curiosity soon became an opportunity to contribute my own research.

​

Over the next several years, I had the privilege of presenting three original papers to the Lodge:

​

• My Masonic Journey and Legacy — adapted from my Royal Scofield Society capstone.

 

• The Life of Dr. Joseph Warren — exploring the life and legacy of one of Freemasonry's greatest Revolutionary leaders.

 

• Trains, Tracks, and the Brotherhood that Built Them — examining the connections between railroads, Freemasonry, and American history.

Each presentation reinforced something I had already begun to discover through GEMS+H: meaningful research is about far more than collecting facts. It is about asking thoughtful questions, discovering unexpected connections, and sharing stories that inspire others to continue their own search for light.

​

As my involvement grew, so did my opportunities to serve. In 2024 I was elected Junior Deacon, followed by Senior Deacon in 2025 and Junior Warden in 2026. During that time, I also served on the Norman Lincoln Scholarship Committee, helping recognize Masonic scholarship, and later joined both the Journal Committee and the Paper Committee, supporting the research and educational mission of the Lodge.

For me, the Ohio Lodge of Research represents the heart of lifelong learning within Freemasonry. It is a place where curiosity is encouraged, scholarship is celebrated, and every new discovery becomes another story worth sharing.
