Rocky J. Squirrel Presents
GEMS+H:
The Stories That Bind Us

Who is Rocky J Squirrel?
Behind the name Rocky J. Squirrel is Robert "Rocky" Jackson, an inspirational and educational speaker and storyteller who has a passion for connecting the stories of the past to the lessons we can apply today. Through Rocky J. Squirrel Presents GEMS+H: The Stories That Bind Us, I share stories from Genealogy, Education, Masonry, Stamps, and History to help audiences discover the connections that shape our lives.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of teaching and mentoring people of all ages through classrooms, community groups, Masonic organizations, and historical presentations. Whether working with students, community members, or fellow historians, my goal has always been the same: to make learning meaningful and help people see how the past continues to influence the present.

My lifelong love of genealogy has fueled my curiosity to uncover the lives of those who came before us. Every family has stories waiting to be discovered, and those stories provide a deeper understanding of where we came from and who we are today.

My journey as a Freemason has deepened my appreciation for tradition, values, leadership, education, and the bonds of fellowship. Through Masonic presentations, I explore the history, symbolism, and lessons that continue to inspire generations.

That passion for history also inspired my thematic stamp exhibit, Freemasons in the Crucible of Revolution: My Family’s Story — a unique look at the American Revolution through the combined lenses of Freemasonry, genealogy, and philately.

At heart, I am both an educator and a storyteller — blending history, personal experience, and inspiration to spark reflection and growth. Whether I am sharing a presentation, guiding a discussion, or presenting an exhibit, my goal is simple: to make history come alive and encourage others to discover the stories that connect us.

What is GEMS + H?
GEMS+H represents the five areas that inspire my storytelling and presentations. Each letter represents a different way we can discover, understand, and share the stories that bind us together.

Genealogy — Discovering Our Roots
Genealogy allows us to uncover the lives of those who came before us. Through family research, historical records, and personal stories, we discover that every family has a unique history worth preserving and sharing.

Education — Inspiring Lifelong Learning
Education has been a lifelong passion of mine. As an educator, I believe learning should go beyond memorizing facts — it should inspire curiosity, encourage questions, and help students and communities connect knowledge with real-life experiences.

Masonry — Lessons Through History and Brotherhood
Freemasonry provides a connection to history, tradition, leadership, service, and personal growth. Through Masonic education and presentations, I explore the stories, symbols, and values that have shaped generations of members.

Stamps — Preserving History One Stamp at a Time
Philately offers a unique window into history. Every stamp tells a story about people, places, events, and ideas. Through stamp collecting and exhibits, I share how small pieces of paper can preserve some of the world's greatest stories.

History — Connecting Yesterday to Today
History is more than dates and events. It is the collection of human experiences that teaches us where we came from and helps us make better decisions for the future. Through storytelling, I strive to bring history to life in ways that connect with today's audiences.

The GEMS+H Philosophy:
Finding the Stories That Bind Us
People often ask why I combine Genealogy, Education, Masonry, Stamps, and History.

The answer is that GEMS+H is not simply a collection of five interests. It is a way of discovering the connections between people, places, objects, ideas, and the stories they leave behind. It is about discovering and sharing the stories that bind us together.

Over the years, I realized I wasn't simply collecting information. I was asking questions, following unexpected connections, and bringing together people, places, objects, and ideas that at first appeared unrelated. Whether researching a family, designing a stamp exhibit, preparing a presentation, or writing an article, the process has always been remarkably similar.

Every story begins with curiosity.

Every discovery leads to another question.

Every connection adds another dimension.

And every story has the potential to inspire someone else to begin their own journey of discovery.

That philosophy became GEMS+H: The Stories That Bind Us.

-
Begin with curiosity. Something captures my attention.

-
Ask questions. What is the story behind it?
-
Research the evidence. Explore the people, places, objects, events, and historical records.

-
Look for the connection. Facts become meaningful when they are woven into a story.

-
Discover unexpected connections. The most meaningful stories are often the ones we never expected to find.
-
Ask one important question: Does this strengthen the story?
-
Bring the pieces together. Writing, speaking, exhibits, education, genealogy, stamps, and history all become parts of one larger story.
-
Share the discovery. Present the story in a way that informs, engages, and connects people.

-
Inspire the next discovery. The greatest reward is when someone leaves asking their own questions and begins discovering stories for themselves.

GEMS+H is more than a collection of subjects. It is a way of seeing the world—one that begins with curiosity, grows through discovery, and finds meaning in the connections that bind us together.

Every person, every place, every object, and every event has a story waiting to be discovered. The joy comes from uncovering the connections that transform isolated facts into meaningful stories.

Sometimes those stories have been forgotten. Sometimes they are hidden in plain sight. My goal is to discover those connections, bring them together, and share them in ways that help others see history—and themselves—in a new light.
The GEMS+H Storytelling Process

What People Say
Why Book Rocky J. Squirrel?
Every organization has a story. My goal is to help uncover it, share it, and connect it to lessons that inspire people today.

Through Rocky J. Squirrel Presents GEMS+H: The Stories That Bind Us, I bring together years of experience as an educator, historian, Freemason, genealogist, and storyteller to create presentations that are meaningful, engaging, and tailored to each audience.
Unlike traditional history presentations that simply focus on dates and events, my programs explore the people behind the stories — the challenges they faced, the decisions they made, and the lessons their experiences can teach us today.

Whether speaking to a Masonic lodge, classroom, genealogy group, historical organization, stamp club, or community gathering, each presentation is designed to:

-
Educate audiences by bringing history and personal stories to life.
-
Inspire reflection by connecting the past to the challenges we face today.
-
Engage participants through storytelling, discussion, and unique perspectives.
-
Connect generations by reminding us that every person has a story worth sharing.
From Masonic history and leadership lessons to genealogy discoveries, educational experiences, stamp exhibits, and historical storytelling, Rocky J. Squirrel presentations are designed to leave audiences with something more than information — they leave with a deeper appreciation for the stories that bind us.
In Rocky's Words
"History holds the key to understanding where we come from,
