Shortline Railroads of America

This was written originally on September 16, 2021. This is what the article said, "With the mega-mergers that have taken place throughout America, the landscape of railroading has been reduced from over 50 Class 1 railroads to a pending 6 (assuming that the proposed CP-KCS rail merger takes place. As the various mergers took place, the railroads began shedding duplicate tracks, abandoning no longer needed rail, or eliminated routes for a more favorable one. In the wake of this, various shortline railroads were created. Emerging from this there are a few that have created quite a slew of railroads under their umbrella like Watco or the biggest Genessee and Wyoming. As time goes on, I plan to highlight these railroads by creating a database that showcases each individual railroad.

Download the file. Then click on the tab corresponding to the first letter of the Shortline Railroad that you would like detailed information regarding.

Shortline Railroads completed beginning with the letter A, J, and Q. (Other letters just have names of railroads at the moment. Detailed information will eventually be provided)."
